Frequently asked questions
Microtopping
Is microtopping a paint or a lacquer?+
No. It's a cement-based product — concrete, marble powder and selected aggregates — that creates a natural surface 2–3 mm thick. The lacquer comes only at the end, as a protective layer.
Do the existing tiles need to be removed?+
No. That's the main advantage: after proper preparation, microtopping bonds to the existing floor — ceramic, porcelain stoneware, marble, concrete and more. No construction debris and almost no change in height.
Can it be used in showers and bathrooms?+
Yes. Once sealed with dedicated sealers, the surface withstands constant contact with water. In wet rooms we add a subtle anti-slip texture, and the floor can continue onto the wall with no joints.
Is it suitable for underfloor heating?+
Yes. The system is suitable for underfloor heating and cooling and withstands temperatures above 70 degrees.
Can it be used outdoors?+
Yes. There are outdoor systems that withstand sun, rain and temperature changes — balconies, exterior walls and surfaces around the house.
Which colours are available?+
Any colour from the RAL chart, in various effects: smooth, clouded, burnt, metallic and 3D, with a matt or gloss finish.
Decorative and stamped concrete
Where is stamped concrete used?+
On balconies and terraces, around pools, in driveways, on paths, at house entrances and in public and commercial spaces.
Does the colour fade?+
No ordinary paint is used. Dedicated pigments penetrate the concrete, and layers of sealer seal it — so the colour lasts for years with simple cleaning only.
How thick is it?+
A standard pour is 7–10 cm. With the "Concrete Plus" system we can pour and stamp just 1.5 cm thick over an existing surface.
Can cracks be prevented?+
We also do the groundwork and plan expansion joints in advance with diamond cutting, so we control where hairline cracks will form — if at all. With decorative concrete, local repairs can also be made and hidden within the pattern and colour.
Can you drive on it?+
Yes. We recommend waiting about a week after pouring; after that you can drive and park as usual.
Topcret systems
Who does the application?+
Only applicators trained by Topcret. The manufacturer doesn't sell material to professionals who haven't been trained — that way it can guarantee both the material and the workmanship. Art Floor is a certified installer in Israel.
Is a building permit required?+
No. There's no debris, the work is quick, and you can walk on the surface after 24 hours.
Which surfaces can it be applied to?+
Almost any stable surface: ceramic, porcelain, cement render, tiles, plaster, plasterboard and marble — without removing what's there. Wooden floors and parquet move, so they must be removed first.
What's the difference between microcement and polished concrete?+
Polished concrete is over 6 cm thick, needs expansion joints and cracks much more easily. Microcement is about 2 mm over the existing surface, a continuous surface with no joints, and comes in a wider range of finishes and textures.
Can it go over underfloor heating?+
Yes, the materials are fully suitable. You just need to take care with substrate preparation.
Can it be used outdoors?+
Yes, provided the substrate is properly waterproofed and has the correct falls — to prevent rising damp and puddles.
Is the surface slippery?+
Any Topcret coating can receive a T/Grip anti-slip treatment. The slip-resistance class is set according to the standard required for the space.
How do you clean and maintain it?+
Water and neutral soap. From time to time add a gloss wax diluted in water, which renews the protective layer. No solvents or aggressive chemicals.
Does the price change depending on the surface?+
No — the application cost is the same. An extra is needed only if the substrate is badly damaged and requires a levelling layer or an additional base.
Can it be renewed or recoloured after some years?+
Yes. There's a renewal system that removes signs of wear, and technically the colour can also be changed over an existing coating.
